Q1. How did you get inspired for this music video?
A1. I was inspired by the friends I made when I began traveling for shows. It was such an amazing situation that brought everyone from all different backgrounds together and I can’t thank them enough for how much I learned.
Q2. Where do you find inspiration for your music?
A2. What I see, what I feel, what I imagine.
Q3. Your stage performance is very unique. How did you find that style?
A3. A big part of my performance is the fact that I stand. It allows me to express myself freely as I perform. I guess my stye allows me to move with how I’m feeling.
Q4. You told me that cello drives your life. Could you explain this?
A4. The cello has always been an extension of my expression. Even during hard times, playing Music/Cello gives me a sense of energy. It’s like drinking water when you are feeling “thirsty”.
Q5. I heard you are composing music for circus acts. What are some of the challenges or hard points in composing this type of music?
A5. The most difficult part when collaborating with circus performers is the communication. Often times, musicians and other types of artists have different names for the same idea. It’s important to be able to anticipate what the artist really wants based off of social cues and body language. I like to ask them to show me some of their favorite music. It helps me understand what they like to feel.
Q6. What would you do if you didn’t play cello?!
A6. I would still love to be in a creative environment.
Q7. What do you appreciate about Japan after touring the world?
A7. I’ve grown to appreciate how safe and organized Japan is. The more I travel, the more I realize how clean my homeland is.
Q8. Could you explain with one sentence about being professional?
A8. Looking beyond myself to make the audience and people around me satisfied. If I make people happy with my music, then I am happy.
Q9. Could you give us any advice to achieve your goal?
A9. I’m still trying to achieve my goal haha. But you truly have to love working hard and strive to never give up.

Q1. このミュージックビデオの構成や演出はどこからインスピレーションを得ましたか？
A1. 私の経験と友人達からです。世界中での色んな素晴らしい出会いは私に大きな成長をくれました。原案は作りましたが、この作品に関わってくれた皆が色んな多くのピースを埋めてくれて完成しました。
Q2. 作曲のインスピレーションを得るために、何かやっていることはありますか？
A2. 色んな物を観て、触れて、想像する。
Q3. ステージでの演奏パフォーマンスが、とてもユニークですが、どのように今のかたちに行き着いたのですか？
A3. 弾きながらグルーヴや情熱を感じてるうちに、じっとしていられなくなり、今の形にたどり着きました。
Q4. 以前、チェロが人生の生き甲斐になっていると話してくれました。その感覚を言葉で表現することは出来ますか？
A4. 楽しい時だけじゃなくて、きつい時でも、ステージでパフォーマンスしていると、元気を取り戻せるんです。とても喉が渇いてる時に飲む水みたいな存在。
Q5. サーカスアクト用の作曲依頼も多いと思いますが、曲を書くにあたって、難しいことや特に気をつけていることがあれば教えてください。
A5. 表現の仕方がたまに違うので、それをすり合わせるのが1番難しいです。例えば”速くしてほしい”が実はテンポではなく”もっと細かいビートを入れてほしい”という意味だったりする事もあるので、打ち合わせを入念にし、彼らの要求はもちろん、彼らの好きな音楽を尋ねたり、ボディランゲージを基に、彼らの欲しい音を探すようにしています。
Q6. チェロという楽器がこの世に存在しなかったら、何をしていたと思いますか？
A6. 何か創る事に関われてたらいいな。
Q7. 世界をツアーしてみて分かった、日本の良さは？
A7. 安全で秩序があって、そして美しい。
Q8.「プロ」とは一言で表現すると？
A8. お客さんやクライアントさんに喜んでもらえる仕事をする。そしてお客さんがそれで喜んでもらえる事が自分の幸せ。
Q9. 目標を達成させるためのアドバイスを下さい。
A9. 私自身、まだまだだけれど…ブレない、諦めない、貫く、かな。
